Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood is America’s most trusted name in reproductive health, with a mission to ensure all people have access to the care and resources they need to make informed decisions about their bodies, their lives, and their futures.

I led a team of designers, user experience strategists, and developers to create an interactive, web-based health-equity resource library known internally as a playbook, for their staff and affiliates. The experience design encouraged users to engage with the playbook as if it was their own curated content library, allowing them to follow topics and save resources. Those user actions then created a live feed of curated resources corresponding to selected interest areas, as well as a weekly email digest tailored to their followed topics showing recent additions.

Holding space for complicated issues with diverse stakeholders, we employed an inclusive design process that built clarity and structure. It is not a one-size-fits-all playbook because at Planned Parenthood there is a saying “If you know one affiliate, you know one affiliate.” Thus, we co-created a playbook to support admin staff, educators, organizers, and healthcare workers across the organization to meet their specific goals depending on their geographic location, size, and history. Built with intention and care, the playbook has become a transformative tool for shifting how affiliates and national staff across the U.S. initiate, deepen, and connect their health equity work at Planned Parenthood.

Note: Due to security concerns, this playbook requires a Planned Parenthood staff login and thus must be showcased through screenshots and no live link.
